We've come a long way since blaming the gods for our untimely demise.
“Pathology” is a word that ends in “ology”, and therefore we know it’s somewhat scientific, right? So, Pathology is the science of the causes and effects of diseases—the very things that pose a threat to our greater health and life itself.
The history of pathology spans over a casual 4,000 years, starting with blaming the gods for medical misfortunes, to the discovery of cells, to the invention of microscopes and to today—where we can recognise and diagnose almost anything within our anatomies.
In today's modern era, it's easy to take the evolution of medical science for granted. Let’s stop and think: where did all this knowledge come from? I think it’s time we gave a little credit to the nerds that got us to the place of scientific knowledge we are today.
